We did it! Our 2 year contract has been ratified!
We showed up and made our voices heard last week, and we have ratified our new contract!
Our solidarity really paid off resulting in guaranteed across-the-board raises for everyone, improvements to earned leave, and more.
Read below for a reminder of just some of what we’ve won:
WAGES AND COMPENSATION
5% across-the-board increase in the second full pay period of 2025 with a number of market adjustments
3% across-the-board increase in January 2026
$18 minimum wage – no position at MWMC will earn less than $18/hr
Protected consecutive day pay for up to 7 days of premium pay
Shift Differentials – Employees will be paid the differential applicable to the actual hours worked*
Evening: 11% hours worked 1545 – 2300
Night: 15% hours worked 2300 – 0600
Day shift that starts prior to 0600 will receive night shift differential until 0600
Longevity night: 22%
*Employees experiencing a reduction in compensation due to implementation of shift differential will receive a stipend of 75% of lost differential during each pay period of 2025 as long as they remain employed and in their impacted shift.
UNION STRENGTH
Increase to 45 minutes for SEIU new employee orientation
Job postings will state they are SEIU Local 49-represented
Seniority protected if you resign and return within 1 year (to go to school, travel, etc)
Protected 4 hours as a day worked
Change of Classification – employees will be placed on wage scale based on experience and qualifications. When promoted through skill ladder, employee will be placed on step that results in at least a 3% increase.
EARNED LEAVE
Can start using earned leave after 12 weeks of service (rather than 6 months)
Beginning in January 2026, earned leave accruals will stop accruing when maximum amount is reached until the balance falls below the maximum
Time off requests are no longer limited to 6 month maximum
Requests must be granted or denied within 15 days unless mutual agreement between employee and manager
Earned leave requests will no longer be automatically rescinded just because someone no longer has time to cover request
Employees may supplement Paid Leave Oregon (PLO) payments with Earned Leave to make whole
BEREAVEMENT
Expanded to cover family members as defined by Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA)
HEALTH INSURANCE
No increase to premiums 2025 - Open enrollment within 60 days
Predictable premium increases for 2027 of 3% Premium Plan, 10% Choice Plan, 3% Dental, 3% Vision for 2026, 5% Premium Plan, 10% Choice Plan, no Increase to Dental or Vision
RETIREMENT
Employer-matching contributions will occur each pay period (previously annually or at employer discretion)
