Kaiser Wage Increases

Almost a year ago, we were on strike. All over the Northwest and around the country, workers at Kaiser Permanente were demanding an end to the short staffing crisis. From Longview to Vancouver, from Hillsboro to Clackamas and Salem, we were chanting, “This is about patient care,” getting our steps in from line dances, the macarena, and making sure our voices were heard around the world.

Just days after we went back to work, and management realized how valuable we all are, our strike led to an historic contract settlement. Our union contract included a lot of important guarantees to help us make Kaiser the best place to work (again).

OUR NEXT GUARANTEED UNION RAISE IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER:

5% Guaranteed Raise in October! All SEIU 49 Members at Kaiser in the NW Region will begin to earn 5% more in wages, effective the first full payroll period in October. The pay period begins October 13. 5% wage increases will be paid on the November 1 paycheck.

These wage increases are part of the 21% guaranteed pay increases we won in our union contract over 4 years.

What does 5% look like in my paycheck?

  • At $21/hour, the 5% raise is $1.05 more an hour, at full-time that adds up to over $2000 more per year!

  • At $30/hour the 5% raise is $1.50 more an hour, at full-time that adds up to over $3000 more per year!

SEIU 49 Union Stewards are ready to demand Safe Staffing!

This week at a SEIU/CKPU all steward meeting, SEIU stewards were trained on our National Agreement Joint Staffing process. Now, our stewards are ready to make sure all our UBTs are involved in creating staffing plans that meet our needs.

TAKE ACTION!

Stay union strong! Sign our letter to Kaiser management to tell them we expect them to live up to all the commitments in our CKPU/SEIU National Agreement!

Do you think your pay is not right?

HR says they have computed and paid all differentials and retro pay except retro pay for evening and night shift differentials for evening and night shifts. HR is still calculating this. It’s super frustrating—please let your managers know!

  1. Email your manager if any of your pay is not correct, and

  2. Document your messages to them and their response. If it is not correct, let a steward know.
